Piper Alpha; 1988

6 July 1988, 33 years ago today, tragedy struck the Piper Alpha production platform in the North Sea killing 167 good men and women.

Let us not forget the sacrifices the worldwide oil and natural gas industry has made over the past century and half, for the betterment of mankind, least of which, the brave souls on Piper Alpha.
