About
I am a British born petroleum chemist and have worked for 48 years in a variety of roles in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. My career started as a mud logger which I soon got bored with. In 1983 started 3 years or working in Jubail Saudi Arabia on refineries and pet chem plants and then later on in refineries in the UK. I then moved on to commercial roles in London marketing hydrocarbons . In 1999 I started working for a large German chemical producer now called Evonik where I worked for 25 years, working on many projects around the world. In addition, I have done many economic analyses on plants and processes for M&A.
Over many years I have developed in house models for refineries and steam cracker plants which are used to benchmark assets, and have presented at many oil and petrochemical conferences, usually around 10 per year.
I still work for Evonik as a consultant in my twilight years looking into decarbonization and new technologies. I have never forgotten my early years which really shaped my career.
The love of my life is Astrid whom I met during my travels when working in KSA. She originates from The Netherlands and has suffered me for 40 years. We live on a small farm in the UK which houses abut 120 bee colonies. I am a retired pilot and hold fixed wing and rotary wing licences, as well being a clay target shooting instructor.
