I am a former professor of Mechanical Engineering who worked in renewable energy. I did my time at Mississippi State U. I'm retired, and I have a long-term interest in energy. The whole thing fascinates me. I followed with interest the peak oil discussions back in the day. My particular interest was/is replacing petroleum with biofuels, and in building new IC engines that are made to handle biofuels.

Peak oil was stopped in its tracks by fracking, but the shales are running out of drilling room. It's time to revisit renewable energy. Windmills, solar panels and battery cars are not going to cut it. I'm putting together a book on my observations and a research plan for the future.
