My grandfather and grandmother came to Oklahoma not long after it became a state, in a covered wagon. "Replacement cost" meaning what it's going to take to replace the functions hydrocarbons have been performing up until now, when the cost and accessibility of them will go through the roof. That time's coming to the US, way faster than it should be.

Think of the debate about "peak supply" as a form of Pascal's Wager - when the stakes are existential, can we afford to pretend that the issue is just a money grab, as though there are lots of alternatives to choose from?

One person switching to renewables won't make a bit of difference. A whole country switching to renewables can make a difference.

Norway switching to EVs and using its vast hydroelectric resources can make a difference. With the North Sea deleting it's oil reserve, this can aid in the transition.

There is going to be a vast shift in who uses what. The hope is that we are intelligent enough to recognize the dangers and take steps to adapt. With efforts being made to create more efficient solar cells, longer lasting and more energy dense battery for electrical storage, and the transition to electrified transportation, we might be able to transition more effectively. Otherwise, we will have a rough time. Again, I am hopeful that we will transition. We, as a world, recognize the situation and are investing in that direction.

I remember the effects of the oil embargoes. I can remember seeing overloaded with firework pickup trucks broken down along side of the roads due in some cases to flat tires. I can remember how dense the fireplace smoke was in my neighborhood. I don't wish that on my kids and grandkid. So yes, I am supportive of our efforts to transition to renewables. I hope you are taking steps to easy the transition.

I don't know, maybe is just me, but fat peaks like that are not a thing in nature, nor in any past peaks, and doesn't rhyme with anything we know about what we know about tight oil, I see that fat peak very unlikely. Also people tend to project the present into the future, if EIA said peak is here, it means that the Red Queen might have stumbled. My take is that we are already there and the crazy WTI fluctuations are a sign of it. And if the fat peak is a hard sell, the "decline slowly" is from another planet given what type of resource we are talking about.

Anne, I know you know this but our nation's hydrocarbon future won't look anything like this over the next 5 years. This is yet another EIA lie that Berman, of all people, should be able to see thru and not want to put his name on.

When every foot of rock is drilled up with longer laterals in the Permian and there is no more room in Tier 1 and 2 acreage, it is all gassed out, watered out, and the sector has to move to the flanks, in Culberson, or Reagan Counties, the Permian won't look anything like this. Not even close. There are already 53,000 HZ wells in the Permian, this projection will take another 30,000.

Almost half of all this projected growth is going to be exported anyway and will not help the American consumer more a few cents a gallon, if that.
